September 2022
The elders and staff of Massanutten Presbyterian Church are grateful for the expertise of our COVID Advisory Group as we create protocols to keep our congregation and community safe. This webpage includes our current COVID protocols and other information we hope will be helpful as we seek to care for ourselves and one another.
CURRENT PROTOCOLS
The current protocols for gathering inside the church building are as follows:
- When the CDC reports community COVID levels in Rockingham County are low (green) or medium (yellow), masks are optional inside our building.
- When the CDC reports community COVID levels in Rockingham County are high (orange), masks are highly recommended inside our building.
The information for the COVID levels in Rockingham County can be accessed here or in the tracker at the bottom of this page.
The COVID Advisory Group and Session also ask individuals and groups to continue to be thoughtful and caring of the needs of those around them. To assist with this, KN95 masks will be available at the church to allow individuals and groups to care for one another.
The following additional protocols remain in place:
- When entering the building, sign in and note what spaces you’ll be using.
- If you or someone in your home has tested positive for COVID, or if you have been exposed elsewhere, refrain from gathering and take care of yourself and your family.
- If you test positive for COVID within 7 days of attending a congregational gathering, let the church office know. We will practice confidentiality when alerting other attendees.
- If you are experiencing cough, fever, or other symptoms unusual for you, plan to worship remotely or wait until symptoms subside before returning to activities at the church. You are encouraged to contact a health professional for diagnosis and treatment.
ADDITIONAL RECOMMENDATIONS:
The congregation is encouraged to:
- Stay up-to-date with COVID-19 vaccines and get tested if you have symptoms.
- If you are at high risk for severe illness, talk to your healthcare provider about whether you need to wear a mask and take other precautions.
- Wear a mask if you live, work, or have frequent contact with someone who is immunocompromised.
- Wear a mask if you are working in a space that puts you in close proximity to others for an extended period of time.
- Additional precautions may be needed in medium (yellow) and high (orange) community level for people at high risk for severe illness.
- Mitigate the risk of exposure to influenza, including getting a flu shot.
OUR AIR FILTRATION SYSTEMS:
Massanutten Presbyterian Church utilizes iWave air filtration systems in its Sanctuary, Fellowship Hall, Gathering Area, Preschool, Choir Room and Office Area. iWave systems help to clean air and remove some bacteria and viruses. As well as lowering the risk of infection, iWave may also help remove allergens in those spaces. You can read more about iWave here.
