Keith Phillips

Pastor

Keith was called to Massanutten Presbyterian Church in September 2021. He is excited to be part of the collaborative leadership at MPC as we all share the gifts God has given us. Keith grew up in Newport News, and is thrilled to be closer to family that still lives there. He graduated from Old Dominion University and Columbia Theological Seminary. His ministry experience includes serving congregations in Decatur, Georgia, and Salina, Kansas. From 2006 – 2013, Keith was the Director of Communications with the Norfolk Admirals hockey team. He is a faithful fan of the Washington Capitals (NHL) and Baltimore Orioles (MLB). In January 2021, he adopted two cats: Ember and Luna.

Ashlea Liptrap

Administrative Assistant

Ashlea joined MPC as Administrative Assistant in January 2025. She grew up in Bridgewater and now lives in Fulks Run with her husband Jared. She has an adult son named Blayke who has Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and faces additional challenges. These experiences have inspired her educational pursuits in the field of Human Services – including degrees and certificates in human services and substance abuse counseling from Blue Ridge Community College. She is currently working toward becoming a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) volunteer. Ashlea's strong faith in God drives her passion for advocating for all individuals, ensuring they feel heard, seen, understood, respected, and supported in a safe and supportive environment. Ashlea actively works to meet the needs of those in need and protect their rights, especially those who have suffered from abuse and neglect and cannot advocate for themselves. In her free time, Ashlea enjoys spending time with her family, reading, drawing, and cuddling with her silver lab Luna.

Hannah Altman

Children and Youth Program Director

Hannah is a 2020 graduate of Union Presbyterian Seminary with a Master of Arts in Christian Education. She most recently worked at Massanetta Springs as the Director of Programs. Growing up overseas and then in Staunton as a very involved preacher’s kid ("PK"), she is no stranger to church ministry. She brings a fresh outlook on programming and a love of working with children and youth. She loves to travel with her husband, Scott Altman. In October 2022, Hannah and Scott welcomed a daughter, Natalie, to their family. Their dog, Crumpet, loves his frisbee.

Julia Walsh-Hornick

Financial Administrator

Julia joined MPC as Finance Administrator in January 2025. She has 18 years non-profit background, more specifically, as a Finance Director since 2017. She moved to the area in 1990 after living throughout the country in childhood. She settled roots in Harrisonburg along with her immediate family. Julia graduated James Madison University with a BIS emphasized in Hospitality Management/Catering. She enjoys cooking, gardening, outdoor festivals, entertaining, and her little Shih-Poo, QT. Since 1978, she's been a die-hard Philadelphia Eagles fan. #GoBirds She is a member of Blessed Sacrament Church.

Bob Jerome

Director of Music

Bob came to MPC in 1999 as the Organist and became the Director of Music in 2007. He graduated from Texas Christian University with a degree in Music and Economics. He enjoys woodworking, playing in various musical groups, and occasional research in behavioral economics and relishes time spent with his wife, Doris, and his children and grandchildren. Over the years, he has been blessed and honored to know and work with the truly exceptional and inspirational people at MPC.

Carol Lown

Organist

Carol has been organist at MPC since 2008. She accompanies the Adult Choir, directs the Massanutten Ringers handbell choir, and leads a children's choir, JoySong. A graduate of Randolph-Macon Woman's College and the University of Virginia, she enjoys biking in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley, and hobbies include stained glass and polymer clay.

Karen Leecy

Office Manager

Karen has been a member of MPC since 1968 and she and her husband, Dick, were the first couple to get married in the current church building. She has been the church Office Manager for forty years. She continues her long tenure at MPC because she believes in the church’s ministry and loves its people. She enjoys antiquing, gardening and camping.

Greg Trobaugh

Treasurer

Greg has been the treasurer at MPC for over 30 years. He and his wife Ann have been members for over 45 years. Greg is an avid fan and graduate of Virginia Tech. He spent his teaching career at Elkton & Spotswood High School instructing students in Agriculture & Technology until he retired. He enjoys volunteering for the Ruritan Club and participates in many of their community service projects.

Logan Davis

Digital Worship Coordinator

Logan joined the MPC staff in as the Digital Media Coordinator in January 2025. Logan has been a member of the church for the majority of his life, attending with his family since he was a child. He graduated from James Madison University with a Bachelor of Music in Music Industry. He also served on the operations crew at Ting Pavilion in Charlottesville, Virginia. They enjoy performing on tuba, singing, and spending time with their family.

Danielle Cunningham

Digital Media Communications Coordinator

Danielle joined MPC in July 2021 as the Digital Media Communications Coordinator. She graduated from Bridgewater College in 2020 with a Bachelor of Arts in Music Performance, and in 2022 with a Master of Arts in Digital Media Strategy, also from Bridgewater College. She is from Bristow, Virginia and currently lives in Fishersville, Virginia with her partner. In her free time, she enjoys singing, baking, playing board games, and spending time with her three cats, Duncan, Duchess, and Link.

Dick Leecy

Custodian

Dick was born in Treebeek, Netherlands and grew up in Virginia. He volunteered to serve in the Air Force and is a Vietnam veteran. Dick has been a member of MPC since 1976. He retired from Lakeview Golf Course after 26 years of service. Dick and Karen have one daughter, Melissa, who along with her husband lives in Ashland, Virginia. Dick enjoys hunting, camping, fishing, and spending time with his family.

Cindy Grimes

Custodian

Cindy was born in Toms Brook, Va. and lived there until going to college in North Carolina. After graduating, she taught at Keister Elementary School in Harrisonburg, and has lived in this area since that time. She taught public school for 15 years and was a teacher and director at MPC Preschool for 24 years. She is a member of and musician for Vision of Hope Methodist Church, and has been connected with Massanutten Presbyterian Church for many years as staff, member and friend. She resides in Penn Laird and has a daughter, Mackenzie who also lives in the area. Her husband, Don, died in 2014. Her hobbies include walking, reading, organizing, puzzle-working, and helping other people.

Katie Rodgers

Nursery Caregiver

If you have children or grandchildren of nursery age, you may meet Katie who recently joined our staff as the Nursery Caregiver. Katie will be there each week along with a volunteer. She looks forward to getting to know you and your children!
Katie and her husband, Dirk Grayson have long been friends and good neighbors of the congregation. They have lived in the manse for more than 10 years, raising their three children: son Caden (a sophomore at VCU), daughter Zyan (a freshman at JMU), and son Elias (a sophomore at Spotswood High School).
In her spare time, Katie enjoys refinishing furniture and helping families find the decor that makes their house a home. In 2020 she and Dirk launched their own business called Woven and Wood. You can find them on Facebook to learn more about Katie and their work.
